Sydney B Johnson

is a multidisciplinary artist based in  Grand Rapids, Michigan  whose practice spans fine art, murals, illustration, and motion design. She is currently a graduate fellow at the Maker Institute of Studio Art & Theology in Richmond, Virginia, and holds a BFA in Animation from Ball State University.
 

Sydney has painted murals across the United States, including projects in California, Colorado, and the Midwest. She has also illustrated multiple children’s books and worked professionally in motion design, video editing, and content creation.

 

In May 2025, she participated in the OneCollab artist residency in Herrnhut, Germany.

 

Her creative philosophy is rooted in the rhythm  “Commune. Create. Connect.” She believes that through creating, we connect more deeply with ourselves and the communities around us.
